Introduction to PTE

PTE Introduction:

PTE Academic is the first entirely computer-based English language test for international study and immigration that is accepted across the world.

PTE stands for the Pearson Test of English, which is conducted by Pearson.

The test assesses the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It provides a score based on the GSE (Global Scale of English).

Who accepts PTE?

PTE Academic scores are accepted by thousands of institutions and approved for all UK, Canada, Australian, and New Zealand, and USA visa and immigration categories.

How long do I have to wait for the results?

Some students receive the results within 2 hours. Some usally get it after 24 hours, however, sometimes it can take up to five working days. 95% of the time expect the results with in the same day or in the next 24 hours.

How long my scores are valid?

PTE score is valid for 2 years from the date of the exam. The expiry date will be mentioned in the result as well. It is believed that the report is valid for three years for PR or TR purposes, however, please seek proper immigration advice on this.

Score Comparison against IELTS

As of 2021, the following score comparison is valid.

IELTS 6 = PTE 50

IELTS 6.5= PTE 58  (Some courses in Australia requires this score)

IELTS 7= PTE 65 (For Nursing or Nursing registration, It will also give you 10 points for PR)

IELTS 7.5= PTE 73 ( Some Universities such as University of Sydney require this score for admission in postgraduate courses)

IELTS 8= PTE 79 ( 20 Points for PR)

 

Can I prepare for PTE from YouTube?

There are plenty of online resources available, however, most students who do self-preparation end up spending more money on the test than on Coaching. It’s wise to spend a few bucks and get your score the first time rather than experimenting yourself.
